Educating a new market on cloud backup, and reaching 525,000 users in five months

THE GOAL

Dropmysite launched with a big hairy audacious goal: backing up the Internet for web developers. Dropmyemail and Dropmymobile were then added to the product suite for the consumer market. The cloud was still a new concept in the early 2010s, and there was plenty of education needed.

WHAT WE DID

  • Content creation
  • Press conference
  • Events
  • Video production
  • SEO/SEM
  • Public relations

We adopted a content-heavy strategy: a constant stream of articles, blogs, white papers and case studies, sent out to business, tech and lifestyle press. Links were generated and optimised to keep driving traffic to the landing pages. Taking part in major events, and creating smaller ones, brought online attention offline.

THE RESULTS

The strategy worked, and hockey-stick growth followed: 525,000 users in five months. Media outlets called Dropmysite “the fastest growing startup in Asia”. Multiple partnership and reseller deals with major MNCs were signed. Senior management were interviewed on tier-1 media outlets and invited to speak at tech events. In 2017 the company rebranded to Dropsuite.
